Beliefs

We believe that we are called to fulfill two commands. First, we are to love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength -- and our neighbors as ourselves. Second, our commission calls us to make disciples for Jesus Christ, to baptize and teach His commands unto all the world -- even our own backyard.

The Ridgecrest United Methodist Church is a former Evangelical United Brethren Church. As a result, most of our members are orthodox in their beliefs. Most of the members, including the pastor, hold firmly to the affirmation of faith found in the Apostle's Creed, Traditional Version (see text below).

While most are moderate in belief, we are not a creedal church. We do not require members to hold to a specific set of beliefs. We open our arms to all, and encourage people to use their God given intellectual gifts to struggle with issues of faith and belief.

Apostle's Creed, Traditional Version

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, And sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
